Why Wisdom Teeth Come Out Late

Wisdom Female Image

Wisdom teeth are the third molars that usually come out between the ages of 17 and 25. The late emergence of these teeth can be explained by various reasons such as a narrow jaw structure or not enough space in the area where the tooth will come out.

Evolutionarily, our ancestors had larger jaws so that wisdom teeth could come out easily. However, due to modern eating habits and differences in jaw development, today these teeth may come out late or not at all.

In addition, genetic factors, irregularities in tooth alignment and hardness of the gums can also cause wisdom teeth to come out late. In some individuals, these teeth remain impacted and can cause pain or infection. In this case, dentist intervention may be necessary.

If your wisdom teeth have not yet come out or if you feel pressure or pain in the jaw area, you can consult a dentist and have detailed x-rays taken. Early diagnosis is important to prevent possible problems.
