Endodontics, commonly known as "root canal treatment", is a treatment method applied in cases of inflammation or damage to the vascular and nerve tissue (pulp) in the inner structure of the tooth.
This procedure, which aims to save the tooth and keep it healthy in the mouth for many years, is one of the indispensable applications of modern dentistry.
The nerves of the tooth may be damaged due to deep cavities, traumas to the tooth, fractures or old fillings. In this case, the patient usually experiences symptoms such as hot-cold sensitivity, pain while chewing, night pain or facial swelling.
As the infection progresses, the tooth may need to be extracted. However, this situation can be prevented with root canal treatment and the natural tooth can be kept in the mouth.
During endodontic treatment; first, the tooth is numbed with local anesthesia and a painless treatment environment is provided. Then, the inflamed or dead nerve tissue inside the tooth is cleaned, the root canals are shaped, disinfected and filled with special filling materials.
If necessary, the application can be done in several sessions, but today, most root canal treatments can be completed in a single session.
Root canal treatment is a long-lasting procedure with a high success rate. After a treatment performed with the right techniques, the tooth can resume its chewing function where it left off. Restorations such as fillings or porcelain veneers are recommended on the treated tooth, especially if there is a large amount of material loss.
In our clinic, endodontic applications are performed with maximum precision and comfort using modern technologies such as digital radiography, apex locators and rotary instrument systems.
Our aim is to keep your natural teeth in your mouth as much as possible, eliminate infection and protect your oral health in the best way possible.
Before having your tooth extracted, be sure to have an endodontic evaluation. Remember: The best tooth is your own natural tooth.
